Custom Order · Kitchen Island
A tiled kitchen island is the heart of many kitchens – and at COLB it's an individual custom piece: hand-laid ceramic or wood tiles, set with mineral grout, fitted exactly to the measurements of your island. Handcrafted in Berlin-Friedrichshain.
Concept
We apply the Cube principle – tiles laid by hand, set with mineral grout – to the tile cladding of your kitchen island. Instead of a standard product, you get an individual piece: in your measurements, your tile colour, your grout colour.
The piece is made in close coordination with you and, if applicable, your kitchen fitter – so the tiling fits exactly with your island's carcass, worktop and connections.
Material
Both COLB materials are possible – for daily kitchen use we generally recommend ceramic.
| Ceramic tiles | Heat-resistant, water-resistant and easy to clean – the recommended choice for kitchen islands in daily use. 15+ colours available. |
| Wood tiles | Warm and characterful, visible grain. Suited to dry, less-exposed areas of the island – not for direct work surfaces with moisture. |
| Grout | Mineral grout, water-resistant and durable – in your choice of colour from the COLB grout palette. |
| Availability | Custom order – quote typically within 48 hours of inquiry. |

Why COLB
Made to your measurements
No compromises on width, height or depth – the tiling is cut to fit your kitchen island exactly, however unusual the format.

Fired ceramic tiles and mineral grout are made for daily kitchen life: heat-resistant, water-resistant, and unaffected by common household cleaners.
Handcrafted in Berlin
Every tile is laid and grouted by Laura Korthaus personally – in the workshop in Berlin-Friedrichshain. Not a mass product, a one-of-a-kind piece.

FAQ
Yes. COLB makes tile cladding for kitchen islands custom-fitted to the measurements of your island – using the same craft as the COLB Cubes: hand-laid tiles, mineral grout. The piece is made in close coordination with you and, if applicable, your kitchen fitter.
For kitchen islands we generally recommend ceramic tiles: heat-resistant, water-resistant and easy to clean – ideal for daily kitchen use. Wood tiles are also possible, but suit dry, less-exposed areas of the island better than direct work surfaces.
