How the finder works

01
Colour harmony rules
Each tile colour is classified by warmth (warm/cool/neutral) and brightness (light/medium/dark). The finder derives matching contrast relationships for the grout.
02
Stil & Licht als Filter
Your living style and room light determine whether the grout should recede or create graphic effect. Each combination has its own logic.
03
Three perspectives
Best choice, proven safe, bold alternative – three recommendations with harmony score. Compare variants directly instead of seeing just one option.

Frequently asked questions about grout colour

Is this real AI?+
No – the finder uses a rule-based recommendation system based on interior design heuristics. The harmony scores are based on colour theory, style and lighting logic, not an AI model. This makes the recommendations consistent and transparent.
Can I change the grout colour later?+
Yes – grout can be routed out and regrouted. It works but requires effort. Better to make the right decision from the start. Use this finder before you order.
Which grout colour is easiest to maintain?+
Dark grout colours (dark grey, black, aubergine) are far more forgiving of stains and dirt than light ones. White and sand-coloured grouts look beautifully fresh but need a grout sealer for lasting brightness.
Does tile size make a difference?+
Yes, a big one. With 10×10 cm tiles more grout is visible – the grout colour carries more weight. With 15×15 cm the grout recedes and tile colour dominates. Black grout with 10×10 is much bolder than with 15×15.
Is there a "safe" grout colour that always works?+
Dark grey is the most universal grout colour – it works with almost all tile colours and in almost all room styles. Not the most exciting choice, but it never goes wrong. When in doubt: dark grey.
How does my recommendation get into the configurator?+
Below each recommendation there is a "Configure directly" button. It opens the COLB Cube configurator with material, tile size, tile colour and grout colour already pre-selected – you only need to confirm the Cube size.

How to find the right grout colour

Grout colour is one of the most important design decisions for a tile table – and consistently the most underestimated. While tile and colour are immediately visible, the grout quietly determines whether the surface looks graphic or seamlessly unified.

Three factors decide: first, the tile colour (contrast or harmony?), second, the tile size (10×10 cm shows more grout than 15×15 cm), and third, the interior style (Japandi favours harmonious tones, Urban-Industrial loves contrast).

COLB uses exclusively mineral grout – waterproof, durable and available in 22 colours: from pure white through sand, light grey and terracotta to anthracite and black. All 22 colours are available for ceramic tile tables; six standard tones for wood tile cubes.

Beginner's rule of thumb: Dark grey is the most versatile grout colour. It harmonises with almost all tile colours, works in nearly every interior style and is easy to maintain. Use the Grout Colour Finder above for three tailored recommendations with live preview.
